I really couldn't imagine what will be at the end of that Sunday. Such an early morning, when I arrived at our promised-meeting-point, 6.30am in the morning. About 30 minutes I was there waiting for the others to come. Then finally at 7.00am we went to Treetop.
Carpark area |
Tretes Treetop Adventure Park (next we will called it in shortened way as TTAP, ok?) TTAP is part of Treetop Adventure Network International which already had branches all around the world, approximately 350 park. They started their first park in 1995 at French Alps, France, and in the year of 2000 they had already built 45 parks all around France, then in the year of 2005 they had 300 park around United Kingdom, Spain, Italia, Swiss, and Canada. In the year of 2006 they started to built another park around Asia-Pasific, at New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Japan, and Bali (province of Indonesia). Then finally in 2012, TTAP open another park in East Java, province of Indonesia. It is located in Trawas, Tretes, Prigen. It is located exactly next to fruit-traditional-market-stalls (year of my visit: 2013) and accross the main street of Raya Trawas near the citizens housing. It opens from 8.30 am to 6 pm.
TTAP Map |

It was such a smooth & short journey to TTAP, as it's still very early in the morning, no traffic jam at all, about 7.30am we arrived there.
My favourite challenge = start/end |
It was all greeeeenn everywhere, starting from the carpark area, I could smell the natural athmosphere around, trees, plants, leaves, trunks, flowers, soil, and -off course- the bright sunshine.
Look @ the tree trunk. That's "stop". That red-hanging-guy, that's the Patrol Guide! |
Firstly, I thought that TTAP was only a flying fox theme park, well maybe they did have some variety, for some spesific age of guest, or from the longest, highest, medium, shortest flying fox, or etc. Then I surely brave enough to try 'em all^^. But, what happenned next, everything was beyond my expectation. Well, first of all when we arrived there, we stayed for a while in a guest-gazebo, here we can sit around, take a rest, or even sleeping, put our bag inside the locked locker, having your meal (nobody selling food or snacks here), bought some drink from the refrigerator. Then, as we went to TTAP in a big group of young people we also booked some group-play which we were seperated into small group with one instructor for each. There we were challeged to play in group for testing our cooperation, team-building, teamwork, trust, self-confidence, and etc.
After that we were free to play in all outbond area for 2 hours. They have 6 level difficulties outbond circuit, from the short & easy one, Yellow Circuit to the longest & hardest one, Black Circuit. So you have to find the right circuit level that suits your age & your bravery level.
Don't start the outbond so quickly!! You have to go to safety equipment room, there TTAP staff will help you in wearing all the safety equipment correctly fit your body. They will tight it up to your waist, but you may asked them to loosen it, so that you will feel more comfortable. But in my opinion you better let them tighten up the safety equipment onto your waist, because during your chalenge you will mostly surrender your life & safety to it, so the more tight it is, the more safety you are.
The safety equipment consist of a set of belts tight around your waist & thigh (harness I guest...) , a pair of carabiner, & 1 pulley. After that there's a man ("Patrol Guide" he was called) who will gave you a short-important-briefing about in safety equipment instruction & how-to-play-safely in all circuit. Please pay attention carefully because those patrol guide wouldn't be with you during the height, they'll stay on the ground, and you'll be on your own.
Safety rules:
- Never start the next challenge if someone still around that challenge line.
- Never be together in the same challenge line (from my experience, 2 person maximum, more than that, Oh my God...I couldnt't imagine how hard the shakes would be & how hard you had to hold strong your body in the height
- Never gathered in one stop. Every challenge in one circuit did have some sort of spot as "start" (to the next challenge) & "end" (from the previous challenge). I called this spot as "stop". It's just a wooden-small-round-doughnut-shape (hole in the middle, to attach the stop to a big tree-trunk in height) less than 1 metre diameter, so if we, about more than 2 person gathered in one stop I thought that it would feel uncomfortable & unsafe (for all of them)
- For woman please tied your up your hair as tight as you can, then your hair wouldn't disturb your focus in height.
- Pay attention to this colour mark (red & blue) in the challenge line:
- 1 red colour >> put /attach one of your carabiner on the line
- 2 red colour >> put / attach both of your carabiner
1 pulley >> put / attach your pulley
- Combination of colour mark: red-blue-red >> put one of your carabiner first, then put the pulley, followed by the 2nd carabiner, last, remember to put both carabiner on the upperside of the pulley (on the small-slope-shape, there were 2 slope in the pulley for each side). This combination used for flying fox only. Then both of your hand had to hold this combination tightly from left & right.
Before I started to try one of their circuit, I explored around to know the circuit's length. Well as far as I see it wasn't too long, only 5 challenge line. The moment of truth. Circuit level 3. Oh..My God!! The circuit was more than 5 challenge line, it's about 8.. Oh Damn!
I felt so much pain & numb in my arms & hands when I reached challenge line #6, it looked like a spidernet and we had to go through it from right to the left. It was only 1 metre left to the nearest stop when I felt no more strength in my arms &hands to uplift my whole body, then I decided to stop for a while, take a rest, hanging around, gather my power, put my life only to the safety equipment which hanged on the spidernet about 50second!! What an experience.. In that moment I felt so small as a human in this big world. In that seconds I realised that we're nothing without God, we're just a small piece of dust in this world. Pray is one of the way that help me a lot in gathering my power again. 0_o (Shame on me! Someone who never do any routine sport T_T)
I finally reach that nearest stop. Thanks God the last 2 challenge was only a short & long flying fox....and my conclusion of this park: it was such a crazy, tiring, exhausting, adrenaline, adventurous arena... Oh My God when I got home I felt like I've made a wrong decision a day before, well my body felt like I was thrown away & bumped into the land from a very high place with nothing around to protect me.. @_@
That's why I'd like to advise to all TTAP visitor:
- Do some sport. At least 2 days before you go to TTAP
- Bring & use a pair of rubbery-gloves
- Wear a running shoes (or any kind of shoes which fit tightly to your feet and has a slope shape in the center of the sole) that will help you stand in balance in the line-rope.
Come and try them, OK?!
